Job Description
Augusta University is recognized as Georgia's innovation center for education and health care, playing a pivotal role in training the next generation of innovators, leaders, and healthcare providers. With four campuses located in Augusta and various locations across the state, Augusta University serves more than 12,000 students who seek exemplary educational opportunities focused on interdisciplinary learning that harmonizes arts, humanities, health sciences, and technology. It stands out as the home of Georgia's only public academic health center, where groundbreaking research and world-class clinical care converge to shape the future of medicine and improve patient outcomes. The institution's mission and values emphasize excellence, integrity, accountability, and respect, which are foundational to the university’s teaching, research, and service activities.
The University System of Georgia, to which Augusta University belongs, comprises 26 institutions and operates under core values that promote a culture of integrity and academic freedom. Augusta University extends its impact beyond education by fostering real-world experiences, community engagement, and partnerships with corporations and government entities to address critical concerns in health, security, economic development, and societal well-being, both locally and statewide.
The role of Special Events Coordinator at Augusta University is vital for facilitating high-profile events that support the university's mission and community engagement objectives. The individual in this role will plan, organize, coordinate, promote, and execute special events for Augusta University and its partners. Acting as a key resource, the coordinator will advise the campus community on protocol, event standards, and etiquette to ensure that all events align with the university's prestigious reputation. This role demands strong collaboration with internal and external partners to develop innovative events, manage logistics from concept to completion, and maintain positive relationships with sponsors, vendors, and stakeholders.
In addition to event planning, the coordinator is responsible for developing training curricula and educating university staff on protocols and best practices related to events and meetings. The position promotes professionalism and fosters an environment of continuous learning and improvement within the university’s event management practices. The role offers a competitive salary range of $48,800 to $58,240 annually based on qualifications, with the expectation of working primarily Monday to Friday during regular business hours, though occasional after-hours work may be necessary.
This position not only requires exceptional organizational and communication skills but also demands a deep understanding of event psychology, including aspects such as color, seating arrangements, and item placement to create memorable and successful event experiences. The candidate must balance creativity with fiscal responsibility to optimize enterprise resources effectively. Those interested in this role should be ready to contribute to Augusta University's mission of fostering a customer-friendly atmosphere and outstanding service to patients, students, faculty, and staff. Augusta University is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusivity, encouraging applicants from underrepresented groups, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.
