The Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia is seeking an Event Manager to join its Event Management department. This full-time, benefits-eligible position offers a competitive salary starting at $51,000 annually, commensurate with experience, with a typical work schedule from Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Event Manager is primarily responsible for managing high-profile events such as the Georgia Economic Outlook Luncheon Series and the Terry College Graduate Convocation. This role requires exceptional project management and organizational skills, along with strong communication abilities to liaise effectively with university administration, faculty, students, alumni, corporate partners, and community leaders. The successful candidate will autonomously coordinate all event details, including venue selection, vendor management, contract negotiations, budget oversight, and logistical planning.

Key responsibilities also include managing invitations, promotional materials, registration processes, and data management. The role involves travel within the state from November through February to manage the Economic Outlook Series venues. Additionally, the Event Manager supports other special Terry College events such as Faculty & Staff Welcome Back Social, Majors Orientations, Alumni Homecoming Tailgate, and the Spring Undergraduate Convocation. Candidates should demonstrate a detail-oriented approach and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce. Physical demands include the ability to lift and move items up to 25-30 pounds and participate in event setup activities. Job Duties

  • Serve as the primary coordinator for the Georgia Economic Outlook Series including venue selection and vendor management
  • Negotiate contracts and collaborate with the Terry Business Office and UGA Procurement
  • Cultivate relationships with local chambers of commerce and community leaders
  • Manage event invitations, email campaigns, and promotional materials with the Terry Marketing and Communications team
  • Oversee registration processes and data management with the Terry Office of Information and Technology
  • Coordinate keynote speaker arrangements and brief guests on event details
  • Develop and manage event budgets in collaboration with the Terry Business Office
  • Manage all logistics for the Terry College Spring Graduate Convocation including venue reservations, communications, and vendor management
  • Draft and proofread convocation materials
  • Oversee keynote speaker arrangements including accommodations and gifts
  • Maintain student registration and convocation web systems
  • Organize event staffing and day-of-event execution
  • Provide day-of support for other Terry College events such as Faculty & Staff Welcome Back Social and Alumni Homecoming Tailgate
