The role of Mechanical and Controls Maintenance Manager at Universal Kids Resort is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing the mechanical, controls, and animation maintenance of all attractions, shows, and water play areas within the theme park. This position involves managing routine, capital, and expense budgets while setting the direction and priorities for all ride and show maintenance functions. The manager will lead the team in maintaining operational readiness and show quality through preventative and predictive maintenance programs that comply with OEM specifications. They will also oversee system and component design modifications and coordinate activities related to attraction additions or changes, including working with outside vendors and construction teams.
The role demands a strategic approach to ensuring guest and Team Member safety across all venues, administering safety programs, and developing training plans tailored to the specific needs of the maintenance area. This leadership position requires collaboration with engineering teams to enhance maintenance strategies and upgrade systems, ensuring efficient problem-solving and continuous improvement. The manager will be responsible for enforcing regulatory compliance across multiple authorities having jurisdiction and maintaining standards consistent with OSHA guidelines, Universal Quality Standards, and ASTM F-24 for rides and shows.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field
- Minimum seven years of experience in operations or maintenance management in a large resort, hotel, or theme park
- At least two years of leadership experience
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience directing a diverse team with focus on safety, compliance, and regulations
- Consistent attendance is a job requirement
- Willingness to work varying hours including evenings and weekends
- Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and laws

- AIMS or NARSSO Level 1 Ride Inspector certification preferred
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Manages and reviews annual, preventative, and predictive maintenance plans with the Technical Services team
- Partners with internal and third-party Engineering teams on maintenance strategies, upgrades, and technical problem-solving
- Sets improvement goals and provides clear direction to ensure goals are met
- Ensures safety for all guests and Team Members through proactive safety approaches and enforcement of proper PPE use
- Sets priorities and oversees engineering modifications to ensure timely completion of tasks
- Analyzes operational performance and manages maintenance activity priorities
- Develops and refines maintenance standards in compliance with OSHA, AR 100, and Universal Quality Standards
- Manages and leads the Ride & Show maintenance team, providing leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management
- Facilitates communication across Technical Services and UKR leadership for Guest and Team Member safety
- Leads safety audits, inspections, and safety initiatives including SOP development, PM updates, and training
- Coordinates work to support operational throughput and ensure high customer service standards
- Plans, prepares, and manages budgets and monitors labor utilization
- Participates actively in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned
