Job Description
Sheraton Dallas Hotel is a distinguished full-service hotel located in the heart of Dallas, Texas. Part of the globally recognized Sheraton brand under Marriott International, this hotel attracts both business and leisure travelers due to its prime location and exceptional service standards. Sheraton Dallas Hotel is dedicated to providing guests with a comfortable and memorable stay, combining modern amenities with warm hospitality. The hotel features elegant accommodations, extensive event spaces, dining options, fitness facilities, and a dedicated engineering team that ensures the property operates smoothly and efficiently at all times.
The role of Engineer II at Sheraton Dallas Hotel is a critical position within the Engineering & Facilities team, responsible for maintaining the overall functionality and safety of the hotel’s physical infrastructure. This full-time, non-management position is tailored for candidates with hands-on experience in hotel engineering and maintenance, aimed at promptly addressing guest repair requests and conducting preventive maintenance to ensure seamless hotel operations. The hourly wage for this position is $22.25, reflecting competitive compensation that aligns with the responsibilities and expertise required.
As an Engineer II, the individual will be the front line in responding to maintenance issues with minimal supervision, directly communicating with guests and customers to resolve problems efficiently. This role demands a broad array of technical skills, encompassing air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical work, mechanical repairs, plumbing, and various building management systems. The engineer must demonstrate proficiency in safely using hand and power tools while maintaining and repairing equipment, machines, and guestroom items.
Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing pumps, motors, plumbing fixtures, electrical devices, and kitchen equipment. The Engineer II will also perform routine tasks such as programming TVs, replacing light bulbs and air conditioning filters, and assisting with painting, drywall, and wood trim repairs. Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout safety procedures and engineering computer programs for preventive maintenance and energy management is essential. Moreover, the role involves performing mid-level troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
This position also allows for professional growth opportunities, as the Engineer II is expected to mentor junior engineers and perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, requiring a comprehensive understanding of daily readings and rounds. Adherence to company policies, safety protocols, and excellent customer service standards are paramount. The engineer will work collaboratively within the team, fostering positive relationships to achieve common goals and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for guests.
Physical demands of the job include moving or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds, using stairs and service ramps, and performing tasks that require bending, twisting, and reaching. The candidate must be comfortable working with technology to access work-related information. This role also requires a valid driver’s license and obtaining the Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Ultimately, the Engineer II position at Sheraton Dallas Hotel offers a rewarding career path for individuals passionate about hotel engineering maintenance, providing the opportunity to support a world-class hospitality environment while developing their technical expertise and professional skills.
