Job Description
Hope Lutheran Church is a vibrant and welcoming faith community dedicated to serving its members and the wider community through worship, fellowship, and outreach. Located in a friendly neighborhood, this church has a long-standing tradition of fostering spiritual growth, community engagement, and compassionate service. As a place of worship and connection, Hope Lutheran Church offers a variety of programs and events that bring people together to experience faith, support, and joy. The church values inclusivity, detailed planning, and creating memorable experiences for all who walk through its doors.
The Part-Time Event Planner & Sunday Ministry Coordinator role at Hope Lutheran Church is vital to the smooth operation of weekly worship services and church-wide events. This position is designed for someone who possesses a deep love for people and a strong passion for meticulous organization. Rather than a spontaneous or last-minute approach, this role demands a thoughtful planner who anticipates needs ahead of time, thrives amidst checklists and schedules, and remains calm under pressure. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in orchestrating the logistics of Sunday services and special events, ensuring that every detail contributes to a welcoming, organized, and efficient environment.
The role blends multiple responsibilities including event planning, volunteer coordination, administrative assistance, and leadership during Sunday morning services. Arriving on-site by 7:30 AM every Sunday is a core expectation, ensuring preparation and readiness to support pastors, staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers. This coordinator will facilitate room setups, coordinate volunteers, and troubleshoot any last-minute changes with grace. Beyond Sundays, the position involves organizing and executing a broad range of church events such as holiday services, baptism gatherings, congregational meetings, community festivals, and mission-related activities both locally and internationally.
This part-time role, requiring 10 to 20 hours per week, offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a faith-based community. It requires availability on Sunday mornings and flexible hours during weekdays, with some occasional evening and weekend events. Compensation ranges from $17.00 to $20.00 per hour. The ideal candidate is dependable, friendly, calm under pressure, and highly detailed, with a genuine desire to serve in a ministry-focused environment. Ultimately, this position is about enhancing the overall experience of worship and community engagement, ensuring that every event and service reflects the church's values of being organized, welcoming, calm, and people-centered.
