Job Description

The Foundation for Social Connection (F4SC) is a pioneering nonprofit organization dedicated to combating social isolation and loneliness by fostering meaningful social connections across communities. With a mission to advance social connection as a fundamental element of health and well-being, F4SC brings together a diverse network of leaders, advocates, researchers, and practitioners from various sectors including public health, policy, advocacy, and community well-being. This multi-sectoral approach allows the foundation to drive strategic initiatives that address the complex roots of social disconnection and promote inclusive, connected societies. F4SC is recognized for its commitment to innovation, collaboration, and impact, offering a dynamic platform where stakeholders can learn, grow, and contribute to a larger purpose that benefits individuals and communities alike.

The Community and Events Manager at F4SC plays a vital role in nurturing and expanding this growing network of cross-sector leaders and passionate community members. Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Communications, this position is crafted for a relationship-driven professional who thrives on engaging diverse groups through strategic outreach, exceptional event planning, and effective community-building initiatives. As the primary architect of both virtual and in-person events spanning conferences, webinars, workshops, and networking roundtables, the Community and Events Manager ensures that each experience is thoughtfully designed to inspire participation, facilitate knowledge sharing, and spark collective action among stakeholders who are working to alleviate social isolation.

This full-time position offers a salary range of $70,000 to $78,000 and can be based either hybrid in Washington DC or fully remote with Eastern Time working hours. The role also requires occasional travel for conferences, convenings, and meetings to maintain and expand the foundation’s crucial partnerships.

The ideal candidate will bring at least 3 to 5 years of experience in community engagement, membership management, or nonprofit event planning, coupled with a track record of managing both virtual and in-person events from concept to execution. Mastery of project management, keen organizational skills, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously are essential. The Community and Events Manager will lead strategic community engagement programs, oversee event logistics and execution, develop partnerships that enhance F4SC’s mission visibility, and contribute to content and communication efforts that amplify the foundation’s impact and success stories.

Beyond event execution, this role also involves monitoring network needs through data analysis and feedback to continuously refine the foundation’s approach and operations. The Community and Events Manager serves not only as an event planner but also as a community facilitator and strategic connector, working collaboratively with partners, sponsors, and stakeholders to build an inclusive ecosystem centered on social connection.

By joining the Foundation for Social Connection, the successful candidate will be at the forefront of a movement dedicated to improving community well-being on a national scale. They will have the opportunity to work in a supportive environment that values strategic thinking, adaptability, cultural competence, and an unwavering commitment to making a tangible social impact. This role is perfect for someone passionate about community-building, eager to innovate, and motivated by the transformative power of social connection in enhancing individual and collective health.
