The role of the GSE and Fueling Maintenance Manager at Swissport is both strategic and operational, encompassing the management of ground service equipment and fueling maintenance operations. This full-time position involves overseeing personnel, operational, and administrative functions within the assigned department to ensure the effective implementation of the fleet management strategy. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing Swissport’s equipment and resources to support seamless airport operations. Responsibilities include defining the maintenance strategy, selecting and negotiating with partners for outsourcing and subcontracting, and applying global maintenance policies to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Further, the manager is responsible for designing the optimal organizational structure, managing staffing levels, and ensuring effective planning of manpower and equipment. They will collaborate with senior leadership for human resource management, including promotions, performance tracking, defining pay and incentive schemes, training, and succession planning. The role also requires building best-in-class operational processes that align with business requirements and financial models, aiming to reduce costs and maximize efficiency. The manager will monitor budgets related to equipment acquisition, maintenance, repairs, and disposal, and develop lean processes to eliminate waste.

Another key aspect of the role involves providing subject matter expertise on fleet and capital equipment sourcing and operations, managing contracts, supplier negotiations, and exploring new supply sources and programs. The position carries full P&L responsibility for the assigned business units, including defining annual budgets and medium-term strategic plans. Ensuring compliance with legal and safety regulations, both local and Swissport standards, is paramount, as is partnering with regional operational teams to tailor strategies for profitability and alignment with regional business models.

Safety is a core priority, requiring the manager to ensure all operations are executed safely with properly trained staff and adherence to safety rules and environmental policies. This role includes responsibility for quality, health, safety, and environmental activities to reduce injuries and equipment damage. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, supply chain, finance or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 10 years supervisory or management experience in GSE maintenance or equivalent vehicle maintenance
  • Relevant military experience is welcome
  • Technical background in mechanical, hydraulic or electrical systems is a plus
  • Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills
  • Experience managing multiple projects requiring communication, organization and problem solving
  • Customer focused mindset internal and external
  • Proficient computer literacy including maintenance tools

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
