Job Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration, business administration, or related field
  • Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in planning, development services, or customer service program administration
  • Knowledge of municipal planning and permitting processes and relevant laws
  • Ability to coordinate, resolve conflicts, and provide high-level customer service
  • Capability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
  • Physical ability to work in office and travel to sites
  • Willingness to work extended hours including evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in urban planning, engineering, architecture, public administration, business administration, or related field
  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible professional experience in planning, development services, or customer service program administration
  • Knowledge of municipal planning and permitting processes
  • Familiarity with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and relevant federal and state laws
  • Strong skills in negotiation, conflict resolution, and project management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate across departments and resolve conflicts

Job Duties

  • Serve as a liaison and coordinate development projects with internal departments and external stakeholders
  • Assist applicants through city planning and permit review processes
  • Facilitate resolution of complex customer inquiries and development-related issues
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with applicants, developers, and review authorities
  • Balance regulatory requirements with business-supportive practices to expedite project delivery
  • Provide high-level concierge-style customer service to residents, businesses, and developers
  • Manage multiple development and economic development projects independently
