Job Description
Rubicon is a distinguished non-profit organization with an $18 million budget, dedicated to transforming East Bay communities by equipping individuals to break the cycle of poverty. Operating across eight locations in Alameda and Contra Costa counties, Rubicon delivers comprehensive direct services and manages a pioneering commercial landscape social enterprise program known for its sustainable practices. Recognized nationally as a leader in workforce development, Rubicon offers tailored, one-on-one career advising, job search assistance, financial education, wellness, and legal services to very low-income individuals facing significant barriers to economic mobility. The organization's inclusive culture has been honored as a 2022 Great Place to Work. Rubicon is on an ongoing journey to become a high-road employer and an anti-racist organization, with efforts including expanded Employee Resource Groups, the launch of an Internal Racial Justice Task Force, and implementing wellness and healing supports to address the effects of racial trauma. The organization actively seeks and values diversity in culture, thought, and lived experiences and maintains a strong commitment to equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and veteran-friendly employment policies. Rubicon conducts E-Verify to confirm new employee eligibility for legal employment in the United States. The employment opportunity available is for a full-time position with a competitive hourly wage range of $20 to $22 and an excellent benefits package including healthcare and paid time off.
The Program Support Assistant role is a vital position within Rubicon’s Center of Reentry Excellence (CORE), a key initiative focused on supporting individuals transitioning from incarceration back into the community. Reporting directly to the CORE Office Manager, this full-time, non-exempt role encompasses general reception duties, administrative support, and customer service activities critical to the smooth operation of CORE’s main site and satellite locations. The Program Support Assistant will greet and direct visitors, manage backend office operations related to client and partner activities, and contribute positively to CORE's supportive culture. This role supports Reentry Coaches and team members who work closely with CORE members by assisting in their mentoring, coaching, and motivational efforts. The assistant is also responsible for disseminating information about CORE’s services, resources, and supports to the public and stakeholders, managing the coordination and distribution of same-day services and resources to CORE members, and providing valuable feedback and program suggestions to enhance service delivery and overall member experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, along with hands-on familiarity with databases, is essential. Candidates with bilingual English/Spanish capabilities are preferred, as is experience working in fast-paced, multi-agency service environments. This position demands strong communication skills, interpersonal flexibility, resourcefulness, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Rubicon offers a supportive work environment and a comprehensive compensation package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance options through Kaiser and Sutter Health, paid vacation, sick leave, thirteen paid holidays, four paid restorative holidays between Christmas and New Year’s, and an employer-sponsored retirement plan. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals committed to social change and who are passionate about helping vulnerable populations achieve economic stability and personal growth.
