As an Apartment Leasing Consultant, the successful candidate will report directly to the property manager and carry out a variety of responsibilities essential to building positive relationships with both prospective and current residents. Key duties include greeting residents and conducting tours while assessing their housing needs and preferences, assisting with leasing paperwork like applications, lease agreements, and conducting employment or credit checks. The consultant will also collect deposits, rents, and other charges associated with resident move-ins, ensure clear communication of lease agreements and community policies, follow up on leads, and ensure apartments are ready for move-in by conducting inspections and adding finishing touches.

Successful Leasing Consultants are expected to have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents and team members. They should also possess basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and social media platforms. Knowledge of leasing software such as Yardi, Blue Moon, Entrata, Onesite, MRI and similar tools is highly advantageous. The role may require working weekends as needed, emphasizing flexibility and a commitment to meeting residents’ needs promptly.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Greet prospective residents and give tours while determining housing needs, preferences, and closing leads
  • Assist new residents with leasing paperwork, including applications, lease agreements, and employment/credit checks
  • Collect security deposits, rent, and any other charges associated with resident move-ins
  • Communicate all lease and community policies to new and current residents
  • Follow up with all leads and prospects that did not lease
  • Ensure apartments are move-in ready by inspecting and adding last-minute touches when appropriate
  • Seek out new residents with creative marketing techniques
  • Manage the lease renewal process and retention efforts
  • Respond promptly to calls, emails, and inquiries
