The Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center is a prominent venue located in Fresno, California, known for hosting a diverse range of events including conventions, concerts, theatrical performances, and special gatherings. The Event Manager role at the Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center is a vital position that carries significant responsibility. This role is designed to provide superior client service by managing the planning, organization, and execution of events held at the facility. As the primary liaison between clients, promoters, and various facility departments, the Event Manager plays a critical coordination role. This includes overseeing all aspects of event logistics to ensure client expectations are thoroughly understood and met, while maintaining operational efficiency across the venue's departments.

This position requires a dynamic individual who is capable of managing multiple events simultaneously, coordinating with diverse teams, and adapting to the evolving demands typical of live event environments. The Event Manager will supervise a team of Event Services staff, guiding, training, and directing them to deliver seamless event operations. A strong understanding of event management software tools, such as AutoCAD for creating floor plans and seating charts, is essential to the success of this role. In addition, the Event Manager must ensure adherence to contractual agreements, collective bargaining agreements, and organizational policies.

Candidates must be prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, given that events often take place outside of regular business hours. Physical presence on-site is mandatory during events to oversee setup, execution, and any on-the-spot problem resolution. The salary range for this exempt position is between $70,304 and $80,000 annually, offering competitive compensation complemented by a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and a 401(k) plan.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • minimum five years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • minimum three years of supervisory experience
  • proven ability to manage large teams and meet deadlines
  • working knowledge of facility management and event services
  • proficiency with event management software and tools
  • ability to work long and irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • physical ability to walk or stand for 8-10 hours and navigate stairs
  • strong communication and organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge of ADA requirements, fire codes, and safety regulations for public events
  • experience with cost estimates, billing, and budget monitoring
  • ability to work long and irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • experience with facility-wide and/or event order systems such as Ungerboeck, VenueOps, Social Tables preferred

Job Duties

  • Serves as the primary facility liaison to clients and promoters, coordinating all event logistics and ensuring client expectations are understood and met
  • supervises Event Services staff and oversees facility operations related to assigned events
  • guides clients through event preparation, explaining contract provisions, policies, procedures, and operational requirements
  • ensures adherence to all contractual agreements, CBAs, and organizational policies
  • communicates event details clearly and promptly to all operational departments
  • prepares and reviews floor plans, seating charts, and event diagrams using AutoCAD
  • coordinates with service vendors and internal departments to secure equipment, staffing, and services
  • tracks deadlines and client requirements, including floor plan submissions, room setups, and insurance documentation
  • prepares cost estimates and monitors final billing, including labor and additional services
  • monitors event setups and work closely with Operations Leads to ensure accurate execution
  • supports training and development of Event Services staff
  • maintains close communication with clients and facility teams during events, addressing requests and resolving issues
  • attends planning and organizational meetings as required
  • other duties as assigned
