Job Description

Makers Market is a distinguished organization dedicated to fostering and celebrating the creative talents of independent artists, makers, and small businesses primarily located in the Bay Area. With a mission centered on rebuilding the legacy of American-made craftsmanship, Makers Market supports the transformation of creative passions and side projects into thriving, sustainable businesses. This company is proud to champion the artisans who are keeping traditional crafts alive, promoting not only their exceptional products but also a community driven by creativity, skill, and passion. As a vibrant marketplace, Makers Market offers thoughtfully curated outdoor artist markets that showcase a diverse and high-quality array of makers, delivering unique shopping experiences that both support and inspire the local creative economy. The company’s focus on craftsmanship, entrepreneurial spirit, and community engagement makes it an ideal workplace for those who value originality and the nurturing of independent artistic endeavors.

The role of Event Manager at Makers Market is a multifaceted and entrepreneurial position pivotal to the growth and vibrancy of the organization. This position involves a blend of business development, curation, relationship-building, and operational management. As an Event Manager, you will be responsible for recruiting exceptional artists and makers, curating compelling market lineups that align with the Makers Market brand, and fostering strong connections within the maker community. You will also identify and harness new opportunities for market expansion and revenue growth, managing multiple outdoor market events throughout the Bay Area, including locations such as Napa, Mill Valley, Walnut Creek, Santana Row, and Los Gatos. In addition to logistical coordination like event layouts and day-of operations, your role will include marketing collaboration to promote events effectively through digital and print media, social media, and content creation. The Event Manager will also engage deeply with partnerships, negotiations with property managers, and community stakeholders to facilitate new market locations and forge strategic alliances.

This role demands a highly self-directed, proactive professional who thrives on ownership, accountability, and the dynamic nature of hands-on event management. Success is measured not only by the vibrant execution of events but also by enduring maker participation, innovative growth initiatives, and continuous market relevance. Those who succeed as Event Managers at Makers Market typically possess an entrepreneurial mindset, excellent interpersonal skills, and a keen eye for design and quality. They are passionate about supporting independent businesses and committed to fostering a thriving ecosystem where skilled craftspeople can flourish. The position offers a substantial annual salary of $70,500, complemented by performance-based bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance options, as well as paid time off. This is a demanding but rewarding role perfect for builders who are passionate about making meaningful contributions to the maker community while driving business success.
