Job Description
Maker District is an inclusive community organization dedicated to supporting and empowering the LGBT community through various cultural, social, and educational events and initiatives. We pride ourselves on fostering a welcoming and supportive environment where all members feel valued and connected. Our mission is to create opportunities for engagement, growth, and celebration within the LGBT community, ensuring every voice is heard and every individual has access to inclusive spaces. As a volunteer-centered organization, Maker District thrives on the passion and dedication of its team and volunteers, who are committed to making a positive impact through creative and meaningful events. We leverage both virtual and in-person platforms to reach and unite a diverse range of people, fostering a strong sense of belonging and community.
We are currently seeking dynamic and motivated event coordinators and planners to join our growing event committee. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about event planning, with a flair for creativity and detail-oriented execution. As an event coordinator with Maker District, you will play a vital role in envisioning, structuring, planning, and executing a broad spectrum of community events aimed at engaging the LGBT community. Events may include fun social gatherings like game nights, book clubs, friend meet-ups, as well as larger-scale fundraisers and conventions. You will have the exciting opportunity to both dream up new events and bring them to life by coordinating with established venues or sourcing new ones. Depending on your preferences and availability, you may take ownership of events from start to finish or collaborate with others to lead specific activities.
The role offers the chance to build meaningful relationships within the community and work alongside a passionate team dedicated to making a lasting difference. You will be expected to work with budgets, negotiate with vendors, carry out fundraising, and perform a range of tasks aimed at ensuring each event’s success. This position is volunteer-based with a commitment of at least six months and includes opportunities for professional growth, networking, and gaining invaluable work experience. All organizational meetings occur virtually, allowing flexibility and inclusivity for members regardless of location, though in-person attendance is optional. If you are a motivated, creative individual with excellent communication skills and a professional approach, Maker District invites you to join us in creating unforgettable experiences that celebrate and empower the LGBT community.
