Job Description

Seasons Catering is a premier catering company renowned for its commitment to creativity and impeccable flavor, striving to deliver extraordinary culinary experiences where imagination and flavor have no boundaries. Serving a diverse clientele across Los Angeles to Santa Barbara County, Seasons Catering specializes in curating bespoke dining events that range from intimate dinners to large-scale receptions and corporate gatherings. The company emphasizes exceptional service, high-quality food presentation, and seamless event execution, placing strong value on professionalism and client satisfaction throughout every event.

As a seasonal catering company, Seasons Catering offers flexible work schedules designed around booked special events. While the hours primarily fall during evenings and weekends, the company communicates schedules with a minimum of one week's notice, ensuring all Event Captains are well-prepared for upcoming assignments. This seasonal position includes a competitive hourly wage starting at $25.00 plus gratuity, which is left to the discretion of each client. Seasons Catering operates on an at-will employment basis, fostering an environment of mutual respect and opportunity.

The Event Captain role at Seasons Catering plays a crucial part in the success of each event, acting as a key leader in both the pre-event planning and on-site execution phases. This position involves working closely with the Event Manager and clients, ensuring all event details—from rental equipment to staffing timelines—are meticulously managed. The Event Captain is responsible for guiding floor staff throughout the event to maintain a smooth timeline and uphold the company’s high standards in food, beverage service, and overall guest experience.

On the event day, the Event Captain handles various tasks, including reviewing rental estimates, assisting with setting up event spaces with linens, silverware, and glassware, and executing impeccable table service. They will serve food and beverages, attend to clients and guests with exceptional customer service skills, and oversee the presentation of food and beverages to ensure they meet Seasons Catering’s exacting standards. Additionally, Event Captains enforce safety protocols for all floor staff according to OSHA regulations, ensuring both a safe and efficient work environment.

Besides staff management and event execution, Event Captains may also operate company vans to transport catering equipment and supplies securely to offsite venues. They coordinate logistics to ensure timely and safe food delivery that complies with health department regulations and manage portion control to prevent shortages during the event. A vital aspect of the role includes building positive client relationships by addressing last-minute requests and resolving any on-site issues promptly, such as equipment failures or ingredient shortages.

Successful candidates must demonstrate strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills in English, outstanding organizational abilities, and the capacity to work well under pressure. Being dependable and adaptable, able to multitask and prioritize workload effectively, and maintaining a positive and professional demeanor at all times are essential attributes. The role requires physical stamina to stand for long hours and lift up to 30 pounds individually, or 60 pounds with team assistance. Candidates must be prepared to work both indoors and outdoors, adapting to various weather conditions encountered at offsite event locations.

Seasons Catering values the safety and compliance of its staff with mandatory qualifications including possession of a Food Handler’s Certificate, reliable transportation, and approval to be added as a driver on the company’s auto insurance policy. Proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States is required for employment. The company prefers candidates with a minimum of two years of experience as an Event Captain and knowledge of food and beverage service operations, with a high school diploma or GED considered beneficial.

This position offers a rewarding opportunity to be part of an innovative and customer-focused catering team where your contributions directly enhance the success of every event. If you have a passion for leadership, exceptional service, and working in dynamic event environments, Seasons Catering encourages you to apply and join their team of dedicated hospitality professionals.
