The University of Hartford is seeking an Aramark Chef Manager who will play a critical role in delivering outstanding culinary services and customer experiences. This position is salaried, with a compensation range from $70,000 to $80,000 depending on experience and qualifications. As Chef Manager, you will report directly to the Senior Executive Chef and be responsible for hands-on team leadership, culinary innovation, safety protocols, and client relations. Your role will involve training and managing kitchen personnel, coordinating all culinary activities from food preparation to presentation, estimating food consumption, and purchasing supplies. You will develop and standardize recipes to maintain consistent quality across all food offerings and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen environment.
In addition to day-to-day kitchen operations, you will oversee special catering events and may provide culinary instruction or demonstrate techniques to help elevate the skills of your team. - Requires 2-3 years of post-high school education or equivalent experience
- Culinary degree preferred
- Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession

Job Duties
- Train and manage kitchen personnel and supervise/coordinate all related culinary activities
- Estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase food
- Select and develop recipes as well as standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality
- Establish presentation technique and quality standards, and plan and price menus
- Ensure proper equipment operation/maintenance and ensure proper safety and sanitation in kitchen
- Oversee special catering events and may also offer culinary instruction and/or demonstrates culinary techniques
