At Discovery Village Farmington, part of Discovery Management Group, the Assistant Culinary Services Manager position plays a vital role in enriching the lives of senior residents by ensuring exceptional dining experiences. This full-time role, located at 20 Devonwood Drive, Farmington CT, offers a competitive pay range of $20 to $24 per hour with varied shift schedules from Tuesday to Saturday, including rotating holidays. The Assistant Culinary Services Manager supports the Director of Culinary Services by overseeing dining room operations and leading front-of-house dining services teams. This role demands balancing operational efficiency with personalized, high-quality dining service that caters to the needs and preferences of senior residents.

The Assistant Culinary Services Manager is instrumental in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming dining environment while driving excellence in food safety, sanitation, and presentation standards. Responsibilities include managing dining room traffic flow, preparing staff schedules, assigning tasks, training team members on service standards, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations governing food service operations. Through active engagement with residents during meals, this role also monitors satisfaction, addresses concerns promptly, and fosters a warm, compassionate atmosphere. Job Duties

  • Assist the Director of Culinary Services with oversight of dining room operations and supervision of dining services team members
  • maintain a customer-focused approach while managing dining room traffic flow and balancing service responsibilities among team members
  • greet and seat residents during meal times, address concerns, and confirm satisfaction
  • prepare staff schedules and assign tasks including table assignments, side work, and closing duties
  • ensure team members meet standards for uniform appearance, customer service, and food handling practices
  • train dining room team members on operating procedures, service standards, and menu education
  • support efficient dining room operations within budgeted guidelines
  • promote resident engagement and interact with residents during meal times
  • ensure the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and service quality
  • maintain cleanliness, hygiene, health, and safety standards
  • operate in compliance with all state and federal food service regulations
  • monitor food quality for presentation, temperature, and portion control and communicate feedback to kitchen staff and leadership
  • evaluate table service for timing, etiquette, and thoroughness and provide coaching as needed
  • monitor and adjust resident meal accounts for accuracy
  • ensure floor charts, table layouts, and dining room setups are accurate
  • assist servers with table service to support smooth operations
  • record and track daily dining room sales transactions
  • assist with ordering in assigned areas such as beverage or liquor inventory while maintaining budget compliance
  • perform other duties as assigned
