Position: Cook job
About: Responsible for cooking and preparing a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes for the Hampton Sheriff’s Office (HSO) facility. This person is also responsible for the sanitation of the kitchen facility and maintaining personal safety by conforming to all standards and regulations. The job may involve exposure to environmental hazards such as extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, noise, fumes, odors, moving machinery, electrical shock, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals, and bio-hazard communicable diseases and bodily fluids. Physical requirements include the capability to hear, speak, and see to communicate, as well as physical exertion for various activities and handling heavy objects. The position also requires completion of the Authorization for Release of Information form.
Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent; over 18 years of age; minimum of one (1) year of food prep or related work preferred; previous supervisory experience preferred; ability to motivate and supervise inmates and/or team members in a correctional work environment; must obtain a food safety certification; ability to work independently with limited supervision; ability to follow basic safety procedures and policies; high level of product knowledge; friendly and helpful customer service; ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment; basic safety procedures and policies knowledge; must demonstrate good judgment and tact; fundamental arithmetic including fractions understanding
