Job Description
The position being offered is for a Server role located in the Kendall, Coral Gables, and Homestead areas. This opportunity is within a senior living community or an assisted living facility known as The Palace. The Palace is dedicated to providing a warm, caring environment for its residents, ensuring that their needs and preferences are met with the utmost respect and professionalism. Working at The Palace means being part of a team that prioritizes quality of life and positive experiences for older adults. This type of establishment is committed to creating a comfortable atmosphere where residents can enjoy their daily routines, particularly mealtime, in a manner that promotes dignity, respect, and social interaction.
The Server role at The Palace is pivotal in enhancing the residents’ dining experience. The primary responsibility is to serve meals to residents while carefully observing their individual diets and food preferences. Given that many of these residents may have specific nutritional needs or restrictions, the server must be attentive and accurate in fulfilling meal orders and preferences. The role also emphasizes the importance of creating an enjoyable and welcoming atmosphere during every mealtime. This requires a combination of interpersonal skills, patience, and a genuine interest in the wellbeing of the seniors being served.
The server will be tasked with setting up the dining room for meals, which includes arranging tables and organizing the serving area to ensure a smooth and pleasant dining experience. During meals, the server serves residents in their assigned sections, assists those who need help gathering food especially when a buffet is provided, and ensures cleanliness by clearing and re-setting tables as per supervisors’ instructions. An important aspect of the job is the ability to remember residents’ names, which helps build rapport and makes the dining experience more personal for the residents.
Successful candidates for this position should be responsible, reliable, and punctual. The job requires quick thinking and resourcefulness to handle changing situations, such as residents changing their orders or needing additional assistance. Physical stamina is also necessary, as the role demands strength to carry food trays and the ability to multi-task efficiently under pressure. Flexibility with work schedules is important, alongside being a self-motivated individual who thrives both independently and as part of a team. Communicating clearly and effectively with older adults is critical in ensuring that residents feel heard and respected.
This role is essential in a community dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors by providing them not only with meals but also with moments of joy and comfort. Working in this environment offers the chance to contribute to a meaningful service, making a positive impact each day on the physical and emotional wellbeing of residents. While serving food, the server is also creating an atmosphere that supports social engagement and a sense of belonging for the residents, which is invaluable in the care industry.
