Position: Sous Chef job
About: Situated across the street from the Long Beach Convention Center and just two blocks from the beach, the Westin Long Beach is a 474-room hotel ideal for both business and leisure travelers, groups, and weddings. With 37,000 square feet of meeting space, 31 suites, and a garden terrace, the hotel offers a central location near attractions like the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Queen Mary.
Requirements: At least 4 years of related progressive experience; or a culinary graduate with at least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; knowledge of F&B preparation techniques, health department rules and regulations, liquor laws and regulations; must hold appropriate food handling certifications within the first 3 months of employment; long hours sometimes required; exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times; effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests; ability to multitask, prioritize departmental functions, and meet deadlines; attend all hotel required meetings and trainings; comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations
