Position: Sous Chef job

About: American Cruise Lines, the largest cruise line in the United States, is looking to add Sous Chefs to their shipboard team for the 2025 season. The shipboard team supports a combined fleet of ships sailing through various itineraries across the nation, offering a range of experiences from contemporary riverboats to paddlewheel queens for a unique steamboat experience. Exceptional cuisine is a priority with chefs having extensive culinary credentials and training, using only the freshest ingredients to create menus inspired by regional and local specialties. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in the culinary team, responsible for creating a variety of delicious dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the main restaurant, as well as ensuring the quality of caf food and hors d’oeuvres served across the ship.

Requirements: Minimum 5 years of culinary experience in a full-service resort, hotel, or cruise ship; ServSafe Manager Certification strongly preferred; familiarity with food safety standards; ability to multitask, take direction, and work well in a team; capacity to remain composed under pressure; problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and organizational ability; effective leadership and time management; excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills; ability to follow cooking recipes and directions; willingness to undergo pre-employment drug test and criminal background check; training and teaching experience; availability for a work rotation of 6 to 8 weeks onboard followed by 1 to 2 weeks off; possession of Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
