About: Cooks at The Learning Experience prepare nutritionally balanced, attractive family-style meals for children at the center in Hackensack, NJ. The role involves following set menus, ordering food within budget, and ensuring compliance with state and federal nutritional requirements for children.
Requirements: Must meet state specific guidelines with a High School Diploma/GED required; relevant experience in a licensed childcare facility kitchen, commercial kitchen, public school cafeteria or equivalent; must meet state specific guidelines for the role including having a food service/food handler’s permit or license according to state/local regulations and following state and federal guidelines; proven judgment in childcare settings, caregiving skills including ensuring children’s safety and meeting their everyday needs, and physical resilience to meet the demands of the role.
