Position: Banquet Chef
About: Prairie Meadows is looking for an experienced Banquet Chef to add a little spice to our banquet operations. As a Banquet Chef, you will plan, organize, control, and direct banquet kitchen employees to ensure we not only meet our client’s needs but exceed their expectations. Requirements: Associates degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience; five or more years’ experience working within the food industry as a Banquet Chef or relevant role; working knowledge of BEO timelines; artistic skill in decorating cakes and other desserts; excellent dietary, baking, managerial, and pastry skills preferred; knowledge of Iowa Department of Health regulations is required; must obtain and maintain Serv Safe and TIPS certifications; must be skilled in plating and presentation, as well as menu development with budgeted food costs; must possess knowledge of labor management and inventory control; must have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and working knowledge of P&L statements and Agilysys software; must be able to multi-task, with a strong attention to detail; ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere; must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with persons of diverse backgrounds; ability to stand and walk for long periods of time; subject to hot equipment, hot oil, sharp objects, and wet floors; must be able to lift 50 lbs. and push carts up to 150 lbs.
