Position: Assistant Bakery Manager
About:
Our gourmet bakery located in Melville, NY is seeking an Assistant Bakery Manager for its busy department. High volume baking experience and an eye for detail is required for this position. You will:
• Asist the Bakery Manager with the daily operations of our Bakery Department
• Be responsible for baking our gourmet items including cakes, cookies, tarts, muffins, special orders, etc. along with the baking team
• Lead by example, providing excellent customer service to all of our customers, which includes counter, in person orders and online orders
• Support Bakery team with our food safety and sanitation standards
• Be responsible for assisting with the hiring and training process for the Bakery Department, with guidance from the Bakery Manager
• Maintain our standard of service and production during the high volume holidays
• Inspect Bakery items to ensure that the display meets our standards, quality, uniformity and showcase appeal
• Resolve customer complaints in a professional manner
Requirements:
• HS diploma or equivalent; Pastry Chef training is a plus
• Must have 3+ years of experience working in a Bakery with at least 2 of those years in a management position
• Must have A food handler’s license
• In depth knowledge of Bakery operations with experience hiring, training and scheduling employees
• The ability to work under pressure during the very busy holidays
• Must be able to speak, read and communicate in the English language
• Individual must have great communication skills with the drive to provide great customer service
• May be required to lift objects up to 30 pounds and spend the duration of the shift on your feet
