Position: Assistant Seafood Manager

Take your seafood knowledge and experience to the next level….and get hooked up in our seafood department! Our Port Jefferson Station Store is seeking an Assistant Seafood Manager to join its active team.
Our Assistant Seafood Managers are responsible for the direct supervision of the Seafood Department operations including providing customer service and assuring that team associates are following company policies and procedures within the respective department. You will:
• Assist with the operations of our Seafood Department including providing excellent customer service, ensuring seafood quality, presentation, merchandising, organization, pricing, stocking, etc.
• Assist with the training and scheduling of Seafood Clerk staff
• Filet fish for order or display, set display for proper presentation, prepare seafood and ensure that ice is always replenished
• Assist all customers with their seafood questions
• Assure that all company policies and safety guidelines are adhered to at all times
• Other duties and functions as assigned
Requirements:
• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Prior management experience within in a busy seafood department
• Must have experience working in a Seafood Dept fileting fish, knowledge of different types of fish, preparing seafood, cleaning seafood, setting displays
• Ability to develop and train team members, build relationships, utilize skills of team members most appropriately
• Must have excellent communications skills and be able to speak, read and communicate in the English language
• Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment relevant to the Seafood Department
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• May be required to lift objects up to 30 pounds and spend the duration of the shift on your feet
