Position: Transitional Living Assistant – Flex
About: Milton Hershey School (MHS) is a renowned home and school providing exceptional cost-free career-focused education to 2,000 pre-K through 12th-grade students from underprivileged backgrounds. Endowed by Milton and Catherine Hershey in 1909, MHS has nearly 12,000 graduates and is dedicated to expanding its reach to serve more students. MHS is currently seeking Flex Transitional Living Assistants (FTLA) to reside with and supervise high school seniors in campus residence buildings in Hershey, PA. FTLAs mentor seniors in developing essential life skills for post-graduation success, whether entering post-secondary education, the military, or the workforce. They model and teach self-responsibility, goal setting, planning, prioritization, time management, personal finance, as well as interpersonal skills, including appropriate dating behavior and managing peer pressure. Responsibilities also include organizing evening and weekend recreational activities, escorting students to Sunday chapel services, and collaborating with staff to enhance the program. FTLAs provide coverage in students’ homes as required. This position is year-round with a schedule of 9 consecutive workdays followed by 3 days off. Compensation includes a minimum annual salary of $48,799 plus benefits with provided housing and utilities. Relocation assistance of up to $2,800 is available.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required; valid driver’s license in good standing and ability to become certified to drive a 9-passenger van; experience working in youth residential settings is a plus; experience mentoring, teaching, or advising diverse youth from under-served backgrounds desired; demonstrated success in delivering life skills training is advantageous; exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills required, including conflict management and motivation abilities; high degree of organizational skills and flexibility needed; proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications, Internet, and social media; applicants must demonstrate high integrity as role models for students
