Position: Sushi Chef – MUJO
About: Mujū, an omakase-style modern edomae sushi restaurant, is seeking an experienced Sushi Chef to join our team. We are a small restaurant with 15 seats, open for dinner only. Our focus is on traditional edomae sushi prepared by chefs with extensive experience in Michelin-star kitchens. While prior upscale sushi experience is preferred, we are open to training individuals with the right attitude and drive to excel in this culinary art form.
Requirements: 3+ years in the hospitality industry, preferably in a notable sushi restaurant; Knowledge of sake preferred, but not required; Japanese fish butchery and Japanese cuisine experience preferred; Experience in fine dining restaurants and service; Upscale sushi experience preferred, but not required; Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in an open-kitchen and chef’s counter environment; Ability to communicate and work in English, especially while multi-tasking and interacting with guests; Attention to professional appearance, care, and grooming are necessary for consideration
