Position: Sous Chef job
About: ASM Global, a leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, is currently seeking a Sous Chef for the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center. The Sous Chef will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities in the hot kitchen, including employee scheduling. Please note that Food and Beverage employees at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center are covered by a collective bargaining agreement with Unite Here Local 11, and union membership is a condition of employment.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or technical school culinary education and training; five years’ experience as a Chef managing fast-paced, high-volume kitchen operations; extensive experience managing food production for catering functions and retail; ability to read and interpret documents and software applications; strong hospitality orientation; ServSafe Certified and LEAD or ServeSMART Certified; varied and flexible shift availability; DMV clearance; ability to calculate food quantities, understand basic math, and interpret menus; problem-solving skills and ability to work with limited standardization; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; physical ability to stand for long hours, move around, stoop, and lift up to 25 lbs
