Position: Preschool Chef
About: Cooks at The Learning Experience in Hackensack, NJ prepare nutritionally balanced, attractive family-style meals for children, following set menus and adhering to state and federal nutritional requirements. The role is critical as it involves caring for children who may not be able to care for themselves, requiring the Cook to be mentally and physically fit for the responsibilities outlined.
Requirements: Must meet state-specific guidelines for educational background, High School Diploma/GED required, ECE coursework preferred; Relevant experience in a licensed childcare facility kitchen, commercial kitchen, or public school cafeteria; Must have a food service/food handler’s permit or license according to state/local regulations; Strong caregiving skills including proven judgment, ensuring children’s safety and needs, promoting good social skills, and maintaining professionalism; Demonstrated physical resilience including the ability to stand, walk, lift objects, reach, climb, and maintain mental and physical alertness for varied work conditions.
