Position: General Manager in Training
About: An automotive retail store is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead a team and ensure the smooth operation of the store, including achieving sales goals, managing services, and providing excellent customer service. The role involves overseeing operations, handling customer complaints, and contributing to the store’s profitability. The position requires understanding of automotive systems, effective communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft software, and the ability to analyze business reports and financial statements. Prior experience in team management and retail environments is preferred, along with a high school diploma or equivalent. ASE certification is a plus but not mandatory for this role. The physical demands include standing, walking, and some heavy lifting, while the work environment may involve exposure to various weather conditions and mechanical hazards. Sales commission may be available based on individual or store performance.
Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area preferred; working knowledge of automotive systems preferred; speak and write English (bi-lingual a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers, and upper management; use Microsoft software effectively (Word, Excel required – PowerPoint preferred); calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percent; ability to review and analyze business reports, such as profit and loss statement (P&L); hold others accountable, inspect work quality, and give feedback in an inspiring manner; ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed; 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10 – 20 Team Members in a fast-paced retail environment; successful experience managing profitability; proven financial and business acumen
