About: At 12 Matcha, our mission is to transform the matcha experience, beginning with our flagship café in Noho, Manhattan. We bring decades of expertise and exclusive partnerships with top Japanese matcha producers to provide unparalleled quality in each cup. Our café will be a community space where customers can explore matcha’s artistry and tradition. We seek a seasoned General Manager to lead our team in delivering excellence, hospitality, and operational success, sharing our dedication to craftsmanship, community, and innovation.
Requirements:
The General Manager at 12 Matcha will oversee the café’s financial, operational, and customer service standards, ensuring an exceptional matcha experience. This role involves managing day-to-day operations (scheduling, inventory, payroll) and promoting outstanding customer service to build community. Responsibilities include training and developing a high-performing team, maintaining health and safety standards, collaborating with other divisions, and upholding quality standards for all matcha and food offerings. The General Manager will also lead by example, fostering a culture of integrity, inclusivity, and excellence.
The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of experience in the retail or hospitality industry, particularly within café or coffee settings, along with at least two years of leadership experience managing a team of 10 or more. They should have strong financial management skills, including a solid understanding of profit and loss statements, and familiarity with essential computer programs. Food Safety and Food Handlers Certifications are mandatory for this role. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the flexibility to work on weekends and adapt to various shifts. Training may involve travel to our Hong Kong headquarters for immersion in our brand’s philosophy and practices.
