Position: Director of Community Risk Reduction Services, Health Project Director (NCS) – Baltimore City Health Department

About: The Baltimore City Health Department is seeking a Health Project Director to lead the Community Risk Reduction Services (CRRS) program. The CRRS Director plans, coordinates, and implements the activities of one of the most established and integrated syringe exchange programs in the country. Founded in 1793, BCHD is the oldest health department in the country, with around 1,000 employees and an annual budget of over $100 million that aims to protect health, eliminate disparities, and ensure the well-being of every resident of Baltimore through education, advocacy, and direct service delivery. BCHD’s responsibilities include maternal and child health, youth wellness, school health, senior services, animal control, restaurant inspections, violence prevention, emergency preparedness, STI/HIV treatment, and acute and chronic disease prevention. The incumbent will lead a talented team responsible for managing the Syringe Services Program (SSP), Overdose Response/Staying Alive Program, and Ending the HIV Epidemic site, providing services such as linking people to drug treatment services, counseling and testing for HIV and syphilis, and opioid overdose response training. The incumbent will report directly to the Assistant Commissioner for the Bureau of Ryan White and Community Risk Reduction Services. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek subject to evening and weekend hours as required.

Requirements: Have a master’s degree in public health, public administration, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university; have seven years of experience developing and coordinating public health programs or special projects. This is an important leadership position within BCHD. A successful candidate will have strong working experience in public health, HIV/STD services, and harm reduction, strong management and team skills, and community engagement experience.
