Position: Cook job
About: Bellevue College Food Services is seeking a skilled Cook 1 to join their team. The position involves performing cooking duties and food preparation, particularly focusing on cold food preparation. The Cook 1 will also oversee tasks, assign instructions, and review the work of others. This role plays a key part in the preparation and service of all cold foods during a shift, reporting directly to the Food Service Manager. The position is part of an 8-month cyclical rotation.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent education/experience; at least 1 year of cooking experience in a large-scale food service or culinary operation; knowledge of food values, nutrition, sanitation, safety precautions, kitchen equipment usage, record-keeping, and effective communication skills; ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously; possession of King County food handler’s permit within 14 days of hire; experience working in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
