Position: Youth Development Specialist – Relocation to Hershey, PA Required
About: The Milton Hershey School, known as one of the world’s best private schools, provides exceptional career-focused education, housing, meals, and comprehensive support for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Established in 1909 by Milton and Catherine Hershey, the school offers fully endowed resources to ensure the success and well-being of both students and staff. They are currently seeking married couples to serve as flex houseparents, residing in on-campus student homes to guide and nurture groups of students in a family-like environment.
Requirements: Experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings; this is a two-person job for legally married couples with at least two years of marriage; both spouses should be age 27 or older; limit of three dependent children in the student home; adhere to campus regulations including being smoke-free, weapon-free, and no alcohol on duty; only fish and one approved breed of dog allowed as pets; valid driver’s license; ability to become certified to drive student home vans; comfortable leading students in daily devotions and taking them to Sunday chapel services; high school diploma or GED required; ability to lift up to 50 lbs; demonstrate a high degree of integrity as role models for students; both spouses must complete an individual employment application.
Benefits: Salary of $43,825 per person (a total compensation package of approximately $150,000 per couple including free housing, meals while on duty, utilities, and more); comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, health savings and flexible spending accounts, life insurance, disability options, and retirement savings; relocation assistance and paid training provided; schedule of nine days on followed by three days off with personal time while students are at school; three-week paid summer vacation.
