Position: Youth Development Specialist – Relocation to Hershey, PA Required
About: Milton Hershey School is offering a unique opportunity for married couples to work as Youth Development Specialists, known as flex houseparents, providing guidance and support to students in a supportive educational environment. The school, founded in 1909 by Milton and Catherine Hershey, offers a comprehensive education and support system to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, covering all costs including housing and meals. Flex houseparents play a crucial role in nurturing and managing household activities for a group of students, creating a family-like atmosphere within the school setting.
Requirements: Experience working or volunteering with youth, preferably from under-served settings; this is a two-person job for couples who have been legally married for at least two years; both spouses should be age 27 or older; no more than three dependent children may reside in the student home; abide by campus rules including a smoke-free and weapon-free environment and no alcohol while on duty; limitations on pets with only fish and one approved breed dog allowed; valid driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans; comfortable leading students in daily devotions and attending Sunday chapel services; high school diploma or GED required; ability to lift up to 50 lbs; demonstrate a high degree of integrity as role models for students; both spouses must complete individual employment applications.
