Position: Vessel Cook
About: Cardinal Point Captains, Inc. (CPC) is seeking a cook to work aboard the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) research vessel Lake Guardian, which can accommodate up to 42 people when fully loaded. The R/V Lake Guardian berths at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences Marine Facilities dock in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the primary homeport is also in Milwaukee. The cook will be responsible for planning and preparing meals for the crew and passengers following food safety and sanitation policies.
Requirements: Preferred experience working in remote locations on a vessel, including meal preparation; experience planning menus for groups of 20-40 people considering dietary needs and restrictions; maintaining budgeted meal costs while providing nutritious meals; knowledge of proper food handling practices; ability to work collaboratively with team members; willingness to join the International Organization of Masters, Mates, and Pilots union; possession of a US Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential; ability to work with scientists, managers, and educators; possession of a valid US state driver’s license.
