Position: Utilities System Operator I or Utilities System Trainee
About: The City of Pompano Beach Utilities Department in Pompano Beach, FL is seeking entry-level trainees and operators to join their team. This role involves performing manual labor duties related to utility maintenance and construction work, including installing and maintaining water, reuse, stormwater, and wastewater systems.
Requirements: At least one (1) year experience in manual labor, including operating automotive maintenance equipment; Must acquire a CDL Class “B” with tanker and airbrake endorsements within one year of hire. Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in utility maintenance or construction labor work, valid Florida Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with tanker and air brake endorsements at the time of application, and relevant certifications. High school diploma or equivalent required; Lean Six Sigma Utility certification within 12 months of hire; Ability to operate heavy equipment and machinery; Knowledge of safety procedures and tools used in repair and maintenance work; Strong communication skills and ability to work in various climatic conditions.
