Position: Teacher of the Deaf
About: A school in Shoreline (north Seattle) is looking for Teachers of the Deaf for the 2025-26 school year. The school community is dedicated to best practices in Deaf Education, serving children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, preschool through 8th grade. Students are taught on-site by a Teacher of the Deaf and may be mainstreamed in their neighborhood school. The program focuses on developing speech, auditory, and English abilities in learners alongside general education curriculum.
Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Deaf Education or equivalent; Experience signing American Sign Language (ASL) or Signing Exact English (S.E.E.); Washington State Teaching Certification or provisional equivalent; demonstrated strategies for language development in learners who are D/HH; ability to modify curricula to meet D/HH students’ needs; excellent classroom management skills
