Position: Sports & Event Services Manager

Requirements: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management, Event Management, Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services, Marketing, Business, Public Relations, or other related field; Five (5) years of experience in athletics, sales, or customer service; experience in the hospitality industry and/or sports field is preferred; Thorough knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet marketing skills; Effective organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and details, passion for sports and background in event planning; Strong sense of initiative and desire for exceptional performance; Must possess excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position; Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion; Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria; Possess forklift operator certification or be able to obtain within six months of employment (with support from HCVB); May require limited travel. Duties often performed evenings, weekends, and holidays. This is an exempt position; Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds; The incumbent may be considered ‘essential personnel’ during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager, which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
