Position: Specialist, Event Engagement

The Specialist, Event Engagement is a key member of the Event Strategy and Experience team, responsible for planning and executing SHRM’s events, which range in size from 100 to 26,000 attendees. This event professional or experiential marketer specializes in producing elevated event experiences. The specialist stays ahead of industry best practices and trends, bringing a proven track record in supporting various event and/or brand functions. Key responsibilities include building relationships and managing numerous projects simultaneously. As a consummate collaborator, the Specialist is driven to curate memorable and meaningful moments–from our stages to the event environments we create.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, Public Relations or related field; 3 years of related experience in a similar work environment and role, preferably with a PR/marketing/event agency or in-house for medium to large brand(s); Familiar with corporate events and/or city-wide conferences and expos; Demonstrated ability to build relationships both internally and externally; Strong project management skills and history of success; Solid written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly articulate a story or idea to internal or external audiences; Exemplary judgment, organization, and attention to detail; Creativity and intellectual curiosity especially as it relates to traditional and nontraditional events and associated trends; Demonstrated collaboration skills; Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet critical deadlines; Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels within an organization and display strong customer service skills, diplomacy, and tact; Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications
