Position: Ship System Operator/Watch Stander I
About: Austal USA is hiring an entry-level System Operator/Watch Stander for Naval and Commercial Ships under construction. The watch stander will work under close supervision to learn various systems until demonstrating the ability to stand a watch alone on a vessel. Responsibilities include inspecting spaces for hazards, responding to alarms, and adjusting equipment settings to prevent security risks.
Requirements: Minimum 4 years Navy/Coast Guard/Merchant Mariner experience in Engineering Watch Standing; Familiarity with machinery such as pumps, generators, and engines; Knowledge of shipboard compartmentalization and shipboard construction drawing; Ability to operate standard communication equipment; Knowledgeable with Lock Out Tag Out procedures; Proficiency in operating basic hand tools, machinery operations, and basic computer skills
