Position: RESIDENT SUPPORT SPECIALIST
About: Rockford Housing Authority is seeking a Resident Support Specialist to provide guidance and assistance to residents of public housing, working closely with individuals and families requiring support from social service agencies. The role involves coordinating programs, linking with external service providers, and empowering residents to maintain independence within the community.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, community mental health, or related field with three years of experience or a minimum of 60 credit hours in a related field plus five years of experience. Ability to work effectively with diverse residents, maintain professionalism in conflict situations, recognize disability-related characteristics, and possess a valid driver’s license for transportation purposes. Proficiency in Word Processing and Spreadsheet software, knowledge of community services, service management, and relevant federal and state entitlement programs. Excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational skills, and advocacy capabilities.
