Position: Preschool Chef
About: Cooks at The Learning Experience in Hackensack, NJ prepare nutritionally balanced, attractive family-style meals for children, following set menus and adhering to state and federal nutritional requirements. The role requires mental and physical fitness to meet the demands of caring for children who may not be able to care for themselves.
Requirements: Must meet state specific guidelines; High School Diploma/GED required; ECE coursework preferred; Relevant experience in a licensed childcare facility kitchen, commercial kitchen, public school cafeteria or equivalent; Must meet state specific guidelines for the role; Have a food service/food handler’s permit or license according to state/local regulations; Follow state and federal guidelines including immunizations, employment physicals and required health and safety training; Proven judgment to identify and address potential risks in a childcare setting; Physical resilience to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds, reach, bend, and work in varying temperatures from 20F to 95F
