Position: Preschool Chef
About: The Learning Experience in Hackensack, NJ is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Cooks to prepare nutritionally balanced meals for children in a licensed childcare facility. The role involves following set menus, ordering food within budget constraints, and ensuring compliance with state and federal nutritional guidelines for children. The Cook plays a vital role in maintaining the well-being of the children under our care, requiring mental and physical fitness to meet the demands of the job effectively.
Requirements: Must meet state-specific guidelines for educational background with a High School Diploma or GED required; ECE coursework preferred. Relevant experience in a licensed childcare facility kitchen, commercial kitchen, or public school cafeteria is necessary. Must hold a food service or food handler’s permit as per state/local regulations, and follow state and federal guidelines regarding health and safety training. Strong caregiving skills including child interaction, judgment in identifying risks, ensuring children’s safety and needs are met, promoting good social skills, and maintaining composure are essential. Physical resilience is a must with the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds, and perform various physical tasks associated with childcare responsibilities.
