Position: Preschool Chef
About: Cooks at The Learning Experience in Hackensack, NJ, prepare nutritionally balanced, attractive family-style meals for children following set menus and state and federal nutritional requirements. The role requires mental and physical fitness to meet the demands of caring for children who rely on others for their well-being.
Requirements: Must meet state specific guidelines for education; High School Diploma/GED required; ECE coursework preferred. Relevant experience in a licensed childcare facility kitchen, commercial kitchen, or public school cafeteria. Must hold a food service/food handler’s permit or license as per state/local regulations. Caregiving skills including child interaction, judgment for risk assessment, ensuring child safety and needs, promoting social skills, and maintaining composure and professionalism. Physical resilience to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds, reach, stoop, kneel, and maintain mental and physical alertness in various temperatures.
