Position: Preschool Chef
About: Cooks at The Learning Experience in Hackensack, NJ prepare nutritionally balanced, attractive family-style meals for children and ensure adherence to state and federal nutritional requirements. The role involves following set menus, ordering food within budget constraints, and maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment for the well-being of the children in our care.
Requirements: Must meet state specific guidelines; High School Diploma or GED required; ECE coursework preferred; Relevant experience in a licensed childcare facility kitchen, commercial kitchen, public school cafeteria, or equivalent; Must meet state specific guidelines for the role; Have a food service/food handler’s permit or license according to state/local regulations; Follow state and federal guidelines including immunizations, employment physicals, and required health and safety training; Proven judgment to identify and address potential risks in a childcare setting; Physical resilience to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds, and work in varying temperatures; Ability to maintain mental and physical alertness and energy throughout the workday
