Position: Pastry Cook
About: A Pastry Cook, or Dessert Cook, bakes various desserts in a kitchen within the restaurant. Their main duties include following recipes to create pastries, cookies and other baked goods, developing new and unique recipes to feature on the menu, and keeping stock of the kitchen’s inventory. Pastry cooks should have strong organizational and time management skills, be punctual and disciplined, and be able to stand for long hours. They should also have a good understanding of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques, and nutrition.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required; Proven experience as a Pastry Cook or relevant role in a kitchen setting; Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry equipment, and ingredients; Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities; Understanding of health and safety rules in a kitchen environment; Creative mindset with the ability to develop new and innovative pastry recipes; Good communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment; Punctual, detail-oriented, and able to work well in a team
