Position: PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT – LEAGUE MANAGER
About: El Paso County is seeking a skilled and experienced Special Events Coordinator for its Parks & Special Events department, responsible for overseeing a comprehensive special events and sports program. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to manage various sporting events, leagues, and programs, ensuring efficient operations and exceptional customer service throughout. The position involves enforcing policies and procedures, handling budget preparation, maintaining inventory, and coordinating with staff and management to deliver quality services to the community.
Requirements: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or a related field with a focus on baseball or softball facility management, event planning, or athletic program development; 7 years of progressively responsible experience in event planning, including 3 years in a supervisory role. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a record acceptable to El Paso County. Knowledge of competitive sports principles, public recreation objectives, event planning, and supervision practices. Ability to plan and manage programs, communicate effectively, exercise independent judgment, maintain records, and work collaboratively with staff and the public. Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays, evenings, and weekends, and pass a background check.
