Position: Orofacial Pain Administrative Assistant

About: The School of Dentistry seeks a professional and reliable person to serve as front office Clinic Assistant for the Orofacial Pain Clinic. This position is responsible for the clinical and front desk administrative services, which includes greeting patients, answering multi-line line telephone, scheduling patient appointments, pulling patient charts, registering new patients in the EHR system and creating new and update patients’ charts. Other duties include, contacting insurance companies for prior authorizations for visits and procedures, maintaining an up-to-date clinic inventory list and ordering supplies and equipment as necessary. This position is also responsible for the for the day-to-day operation of the clinic, the resident and faculty schedules, patient care and providing chairside assistance as needed.

Requirements: Knowledge of dental and maxillofacial structures and dental terminology; Knowledge of and experience in dental front office procedures; Working knowledge using the axiUm EHR system; Demonstrated skill to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, faculty and patients; Demonstrated skill to handle multiple demands and frequent interruptions and maintain a professional demeanor; Demonstrated skill to organize work and determine priorities; Interpersonal skill sufficient to interact sensitively and effectively with young, elderly, traumatized and handicapped patients from various cultural backgrounds; Demonstrated organizational skill to enforce clinic policies by following established procedures; Demonstrated skill to use basic math skills to screen patient accounts and do cashiering; Demonstrated knowledge and skill in using word processing and spreadsheet software programs; Demonstrated ability to learn new software programs such as patient management software to accurately enter and obtain patient information and data related to scheduling appointments, adding notes and scanned documents, etc.; Ability to maintain accurate patient information data related to scheduled appointments, reports, etc.; California State certification as Dental Assistant; Possession of California State Radiation Safety license; Current
