Position: Housekeeper job
About: Breaking Ground operates nearly 4,000 units of housing across New York City, along with housing in upstate New York and Connecticut. Supportive housing – affordable housing paired with services designed to help people maintain their homes for the long-term – is widely recognized as a proven and cost-effective solution to chronic homelessness. Breaking Ground’s programs and services help people experiencing street homelessness to come indoors and get on the path to a permanent home. Boston Road in the South Bronx offers 154 units of permanent supportive housing to low-income New Yorkers and individuals with special needs. The Housekeeper position involves maintaining the common areas of residential buildings, supporting the mission of ending homelessness by providing homes to formerly homeless individuals.
Requirements: Comparable work experience; Experience operating a vacuum cleaner and high-speed buffer; Ability to lift and move furniture and appliances; High School Diploma, GED, Trade School Diploma, or equivalent; Ability to stand for several hours and climb stairs during emergencies; Experience working with special needs populations is a plus; Basic knowledge of using a computer is advantageous
