Position: Housekeeper job
About: Breaking Ground operates nearly 4,000 units of housing across New York City, along with housing in upstate New York and Connecticut. Supportive housing – affordable housing paired with services designed to help people maintain their homes for the long-term – is widely recognized as a proven and cost-effective solution to chronic homelessness. Breaking Ground’s programs and services help people experiencing street homelessness to come indoors. The Times Square offers 652 units of permanent supportive housing to low-income New Yorkers, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, and chronically homeless individuals, including some with mental illness. The Housekeeper position at Breaking Ground involves maintaining the common areas of residential buildings to help end homelessness by providing homes to formerly homeless individuals. This role entails tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning individual units when vacated.
Requirements: Comparable work experience; Experience operating a vacuum cleaner and high-speed buffer; Ability to lift and move furniture, appliances, etc.; High School Diploma, GED, Trade School Diploma, or equivalent; Ability to stand for several hours during a shift and climb stairs in the event of an emergency; Experience working with special needs populations a plus; Basic knowledge of using a computer is a plus
